Located in the southeast area of Tenerife with a surface area of 162,44 Km2, at an altitude of 650 m. It is at a road distance of 65 Km from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and has a population of 28 927, unequally settled and that has grown considerably in the last decades.

It limits with La Orotava. To the east with El Río Canyon, which serves as a dividing line with Arico, while to the north-west and west, La Orchilla Canyon separates it from Vilaflor and San Miguel, respectively.
